I am committed to women’s economic equality. Women still face challenges in achieving true equality, including lower incomes and job insecurity. The Strengthening the Safety Net Bill, while not comprehensive, partially implements recommendations to support vulnerable women. Extending the Parenting Payment Single until the child turns 14 is a critical policy shift that benefits single mothers. Housing insecurity and the inadequacy of JobSeeker payment remain concerns. I support the bill as a step in the right direction towards empowering women and creating a more prosperous future.
