Climate Change speech 13th November

I am deeply concerned that we are not on track to reach Australia’s 43% emissions reduction target by 2030, a target which was less-than-ambitious to begin with.

My community of Goldstein are leading the way in local energy generation, local energy distribution and lower costs for households. These are the low hanging fruit the government should be going for.

Australia Institute research show that if all 116 proposed coal and gas projects proceeded annual emissions from these projects alone would be almost triple the emissions produced in 2021-2022. This is unacceptable.

Good, but not good enough will ring in our ears if we fail to invest in our future economy.
