MyMedicare information

What you need to know about MyMedicare.

MyMedicare is a new voluntary registration system that allows people to access more bulk-billed and Medicare services from your clinic and GP, if they also participate and offer mixed or bulk billing services.

It formalises the relationship between patients, their general practice, general practitioner (GP) and primary care teams. Evidence shows that seeing the same GP and healthcare team regularly leads to better health outcomes.

If you have a valid Medicare card or Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) Veteran card and have had two face-to-face consultations with the same practice in the last 24 months and live in a metropolitan area, you are eligible to register in MyMedicare.

Registering in MyMedicare will tell your practice and your GP that you see them as your regular care team and will help them provide more of the care and support you need.

Benefits to you
· Longer telehealth consultations are now on the MBS-funded list, for all My Medicare
members, as of 1 November 2023
· For children under 16 and for Commonwealth concession card holders, longer bulk-billed
telehealth consultations are now available from your clinic or GP (at their discretion), as of 1
November 2023
· more regular visits from their GP and better care planning for people living in a Residential Aged Care Home, from August 2024
· connections to more appropriate care in general practice for people with chronic
conditions who visit hospital frequently, from mid-2024.

To register as a MyMedicare patient, you can talk to your healthcare provider about online or paper registrations for MyMedicare, or for more information visit: health.gov.au/mymedicare or complete the registration process in your Medicare Online Account.
